Louise Bamfield

Dr Louise Bamfield is Associate Director of Education at RSA, where she is currently leading development of a national reading strategy for Save the Children and the ‘Read On, Get On’ campaign.  Previously, she was a senior policy advisor at the government’s Child Poverty Unit, head of education at Barnardo’s and senior research fellow at the Fabian Society. 


Her publications include No School an Island, Narrowing the Gap and Born Unequal.  She is chair of governors at a nursery school in South London, sub-editor of Political Quarterly, a trustee of the Orwell Prize Council and has an ESRC-funded PhD in the Philosophy of Education from Cambridge University.
