Louise leads the Innovation Unit’s education portfolio in the UK, including programmes radically redesigning secondary schools, and developing partnerships with the most innovative school providers from all over the world to bring their models to the UK. This includes REAL Projects and High Tech High; Big Picture Schools, and our Coalition of Innovative New Schools to support free and new schools. Louise also leads our £1m randomised control trial to assess the effectiveness of REAL Projects in reducing the education gap, funded by the Education Endowment Foundation. Louise also supports our work internationally, delivering training and facilitating education system leaders from Kigali to New York.
Before joining the Innovation Unit, Louise worked as a Senior Researcher at the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) on a range of innovative programmes with schools: including Opening Minds, Whole Education and the RSA’s Area Based Curriculum. Louise has strong interests in inclusion, diversity and social justice, and the impact of education reforms on the most vulnerable communities.
